(November 1, 2017)  Main Street Lorain – LGCwill once again host Lorain Waterfront Winterfest, the community-based, family-friendly event that kicks-off the holiday season in Downtown Lorain over Thanksgiving weekend on Saturday, November 25, 2017.

As in past years, Waterfront Winterfest will offer time-honored holiday activities including fireworks, magical and enchanting Christmas lights, and of course, the arrival of Santa. “The highlight every year is the arrival of Santa and this year will be extra special when he arrives at Veterans Park on the “Red Express” with super heroes and elves,” Steve Bansek, Waterfront Winterfest chairman said.  “We are also delighted to have WKYC reporter and Lorain native, Tiffany Tarpley, join us again this year for the festivities.”

Winterfest kicks-off with entertainment at Veteran’s Park and the arrival of Santa and the lighting of Christmas lights. Also taking place is Storyland where children will be read holiday-themed stories and play games for prizes, a Frozen Party at the Lorain Public Library, free tours of Moore House Museum sponsored by the Lorain Historical Society and holiday crafts at the Lorain Arts Council.Returning again this year is the International Tree and Model Train Display at the Black River Transportation Center which showcases Christmas trees representing the many cultures of our International City with the nostalgia of the season that comes from authentic model trains.

“It’s exciting to have so many community organizations involved with Winterfest,” said Jim Long, President of Main Street Lorain-LCG. “There is so much to do and see. The best part of Winterfest is ushering in the holiday with family.”  “It is also a time for all to thank God for all we have and to share the spirit of Christmas with those who are less fortunate.”

Looking for Christmas? Santa? Magical delight? Festive entertainment? It’s here in Lorain in our own backyard.
